I have been dying to share these images! This year has been utterly insane for most (if not all of us!) and one of the things I decided - beyond that I want to be an extra in hallmark movies! BOOM! Was that I wanted to do something a little different (for me) with boudoir. NEON has always had a special place in my heart. I love bright colours, I love the way the light plays in the dark, the neon signs, mixing the blue and pink light together, the sparse set, and the sheer level of sexy that comes with it! SO MUCH TO BE OBSESSED WITH! 

This year really gave me the head space to try something new. So I did. And as expected - I love it.

Shanyaa absolutely slayed it. It was unbelievable - and I would do a million sessions with her! She came in with gorgeous lingerie (thank you Purple Cactus Lingerie in Nanaimo!), strong, powerful female vibes and a whole lot of confidence! 

Couples Boudoir | Cher & Jeremy

Literally almost all I have to say about this session is DREAMY & STEAMY. From Cher & Jeremy's chemistry to the light - I'm over the moon! Couples sessions (at least in boudoir) are new to me - and I half wonder why I didn't do them sooner, but here I am now! I've known Cher for years, and when she saw my last couples session and then asked about one for her and Jeremy...it was like winning the lottery! We first met at a Justin Timberlake concert, I knew she was awesome then, and she's even more AHHHMAZING now! And I love photographing her, even more so with her man!

One of my favourite things about this couples session was the level of STEEEEEAM! Jeremy was a little nervous at first, but Cher's confidence and their very clear love & obsession for one another made everything smooth and sexy! I probably could have shared all the images from this session - there were so many! But here are my absolute loves...

So here is something I never knew, something I didn't think I would ever do...but am now OBSESSED with!

OH MY WORD. This session was HOT. I literally left it feeling so excited for what had just been created - this is a must have session for couples (at least in my opinion). It was so much fun creating images reminiscent of a sexy perfume or Calvin Klein add - and I want to do more!

Karri & I chatted sometime ago, and then there was a global pandemic - so we had to postpone the session a couple times before it could happen. It was well worth the wait.

I often am asked what the best way to prepare for a boudoir session is, everything from food - outfits afterwards, so I'm giving you my top 6 tips to help YOU get prepared for the best shoot you can have! 
 

Wear Something You Feel Great In for Your Session

Bring outfits you feel great in and fit/support you properly. Nobody cares if the underwear are a small or large...if it's too small, it shows! Choosing lingerie that fits and flatters your body can mean the difference between looking fantastic and feeling frumpy. When shopping for outfits, ask for help or take your bestie with you! 

Bring anything that makes you feel incredible when you put it on. Sometimes leaving more to the imagination is the sexiest. 

Get a Manicure & Pedicure a Day or Two Before the Shoot...

Treat yourself to some pre-session pampering! The last thing you want to be is nervous about the state of your hands & feet - which will make many appearances in your photos! So book into your favourite spa, pick a flawless colour to compliment your outfits and really treat yourself, it will make all the difference! 
 

To Spray Tan or Not to Spray Tan...That is the Question

If you are a seasoned veteran of the spray tan - then book this in about one-two weeks before your session so the tanner does not rub off on the sheets and leave them permanently stained. Don't book this the day before your shoot unless you're wanting the potential hiccups like orange knees, streaks, or too dark colour, and definitely don't do the spray tan yourself! 

Wear Comfy Clothes to Your Session

Wear loose comfortable clothing to the shoot; avoid clothes that bind, as they will leave marks. A maxi dress, yoga pants, or loose pajamas make great options. Put them on as early as you can on the day, prior to your session - red marks can take hours to disappear. If you can go without a bra and underwear that is ideal, just remember to bring something to wear after the shoot!

Pack Snacks & Water

Who among us can say they don't often find themselves parched or in need of a great snack! Pack yourself snacks, water for during & after your shoot - you will need it! Don't forget - this session is all about you, and feeding your body is monumentally important when it comes to self care & celebration! 
 

Plan a Fun Day or Evening Out Afterwards...

You will look and feel like a million bucks after your session - so go out and enjoy it! Gather the girls, or plan a special date with your partner and really make the most out of your day of pampering!

I know that the idea of sharing your boudoir session may be daunting - and thats fair - but I will say, when my gorgeous clients say "go for it!"...I'm always so overwhelmed with excitement!! 

Ladies - the heart pounding is where it all begins! And, like most women coming to me for boudoir sessions, she was NERVOUS! But she let me do what I love to do - which was easy, as Jen is an utterly beautiful woman, both inside and out! She put her trust in me and my amazing stylist team to do what we do best – help every woman look and feel beautiful in their own skin! 

Jen nailed it. And we loved the results! 
 

There are a lot of decisions to make in life - choosing your boudoir photographer can be nerve wracking! With so many different styles and looks, I've put together some of the top things to consider when you're choosing who it is that will be photographing your beauty!
 

To get us started...

Your Style.

This is something to give some serious thought to for sure! Ask yourself - "How do I want my images to look and feel?" Pinterest is a great place to start once you've decided if you're looking for something more romantic, glamorous, boho? You will notice that you are drawn to a certain style of image! Are your favourite images more free looking or are they posed? Do you love close up details of lace or do you prefer beautiful portraits? Once you know what you love, it will make it that much easier to find the perfect photographer! Whoever you find - make sure you LOVE exactly what you see on their website, as it is what you'll be getting from your session!

Consistency is Queen.

Does their work have a consistent feel throughout...or is it all over the map! If its all over, this may be a red flag that the photographer doesn't have a clearly defined style or experience, and in a boudoir session - those two things are a MUST. You'll want your images to be sharp & in focus, and exposed for properly.

Keep it classic with your images and make sure you love what you see. When you look at their style, do you like how the images are finished? Would you like the way you looked in one of their finished images, or do they feel overdone? Ask yourself if the images will stand the test of time and will you look back on them in 10, 20 years and love them just the same? 

Retouching.

This is a sensitive topic for some! An over retouched image can lead to some ridiculous beauty standards - you've seen it on magazine covers before! Good retouching should be simple - removing skin blemishes (bruises, pimples etc.) that aren't permanent and skin softening. I won't "take 10 pounds" off the images that get delivered to you in post work - I will pose you properly in a session to accentuate your curves and enhance your natural beauty! 

When you're selecting your photographer - as yourself "Do I love how their finished images look?". 

The Photographers Personality.

In life, as in photography, you meet people that you don't necessarily gel with - and thats okay! However, when it comes to boudoir, it is such an intimate experience - and you don't want to be photographed by someone if you don't feel like you could maybe grab a latte afterwards! 

When you're perusing a potential photographers website, alongside making sure you love their work, its a great time to check out their "About" page - you may be able to learn a lot about them there and whether or not you'll make a great fit!

When you look at their work - and you think "WOW she is so gorgeous! Sexy!", do you feel "OMG that could be me!" If you can envision any of those things - then its likely they can help you to be the most dynamite version of yourself, and it will probably be an amazing fit!

Portfolio.

It can be daunting to look through a portfolio and not feel as thought you can relate to the images you see, and wonder if they have ever photographed someone like you. If you find yourself wondering whether or not you're looking at models, or everyday women like you and me, then you can either ask to see some more images, or move along to another photographer.

Just make sure you love what you're seeing in a portfolio, and feel as though you can relate & envision yourself behind the lens of the photographer! 

Now...I will say this - not all of my clients are comfortable with their images being shared, and so, if you're wondering about a shoot and would like to know more about my clients - just ask! 

Reviews.

Lastly - you want someone who you've heard rave reviews about, not sour ones! I don't know about you, but I always check Google or Facebook for reviews, good & bad - both are important to read.

Thats a great question, and one I get asked often!

There is so much lingerie out there, and it can be frustrating trying to find the right piece for yourself...especially when some are made of no more than string and tassel! We come in all different shapes & sizes, and there is a style of lingerie that is perfect for you and your body! Planning your outfits should be fun! Deciding between lace, straps, colour or neutral, sweet or sexy - variety is the spice of life - so try on lots, keep it classic and find something that works for you!

If lingerie doesn't feel like you - don't forget, you can always go for something that you've worn on a daily basis! A t-shirt with the right pair of panties, and a little side knot - you know its sexy! Even a sweater can be incredible!! And if you find yourself needing help, I always say bring your selection to the session and let me take the wheel from there! 

I Have Narrow Shoulders & No Hips...

I would recommend more form fitting lingerie, such as a slip! You'll want to enhance your waist with the lingerie you choose, finding slips & corsets with embellishments around the waist area are a great way to draw attention to the area and create a shapely waist line. If you go with a bra & panty set, choose a set with ruffle detail on the top & bottom to create more shape!

I Have Broad Shoulders & Bust, and No Hips...

The best way to play up your shape here is with lingerie that defines your waist, and gives the illusion of more curves! What do I recommend? The sexy bustier or corset! These pieces add shape to your mid-drift by cinching your waist in, thus creating more shape in your hips and upper body - giving you more of an hourglass look. You can wear lacy thongs, brazilian bottoms, or a dainty panty with corsets or bustiers! Often bustiers & corsets have garter attachments so you can add some sexy stockings to the mix for a different look! 

I Have Fuller Hips & a Smaller Bust...

You'll want show off all your best assets, to do that, you'll want lingerie that balances out your top and bottom. To balance things out, you'll need to draw the eyes up! Choose a sexy slip or teddy with a plunging neckline and a halter top. One of my favourite items out there is the one piece halter Teddy! Its fitted like a one piece swimsuit, and with the right plunge it will balance out your shape! Add a chunky bracelet to the mix and you're golden!

The Hourglass. My Hips & Bust are Pretty Equal, and I Have a Narrow Waist...

There are some great options for lingerie, and you can't go wrong with too many items! A simple bra & panty set will really show off your shape, if you want to sex it up a little more, try a Teddy! A slip will really accentuate all the great curves you're rocking!

WHAT TO AVOID

We've talked about what is best for your body shape, perhaps this is a good time to bring up what doesn't work, at least in your boudoir session! There aren't too many pieces of lingerie that I would tell a woman not to buy, but a baby doll is one of them! Baby Dolls are the yoga pants of the lingerie world. While they are comfortable, they don't offer your body what it most desires: SHAPE. Typically designed to hug the bust and flare out (an empire effect), they just don't cut it in a boudoir session. You don't throw your yoga pants on for a girls night on the town! You can also toss Push-Up bras from the mix! Although amazing in your t-shirt, or that sexy little dress you just bought, they don't work for the camera! They gape when you're on your back, and they gape when you're on your stomach...sadly they just don't cut it in your boudoir session either! Last but not least, the string thong! This is the one that looks like a nicely decorated piece of dental floss. Perfect to avoid the lines in your tights, or little black dress - but they don't flatter your body lines! Here's a few examples of "What Not to Wears'"

This is not a typical post - but it has a happy ending, I promise. Today is all about sharing, maybe connecting - but most importantly healing. So here goes vulnerability...

Pregnancy. Mine was not easy. Maybe yours wasn't either, if so, this is for you.

 I spent the majority of mine hiding away from social gatherings, crying, vomiting, panicking, and crying some more. I spent so much time doing those things, I knew it wasn't normal. After a lot of research, talking with my amazing friend, Lisa, and a visit with my doctor I was diagnosed with Antepartum Depression & Anxiety.

You might be reading this and thinking: "What? I've never heard of that during pregnancy? Isn't it just hormones? I've only heard of Postpartum". Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of information out there, and honestly it was a bit of an uphill climb getting a diagnosis given pregnancy comes with so many other emotions & hormones. In fact, I was told by several people it was just hormones - that spending the majority of my days crying in the tub, in the corner, in my bed, not socializing, panicking, not preparing for my daughters arrival or being interested in it at all, getting claustrophobic at the thought of anything baby related and spending my days terrified I was going to die in labour - it was all completely normal.

Normal. 

 I could not see beyond the day I was in, could not imagine the ways that my life was about to change - because I didn't think I was going to make it out of delivery alive. And it was awful. After talking with multiple people, I started to see a councillor once a week, talked (sobbed) on the phone with the Pacific Post Partum Society sometimes twice a week, and did my best to be present each day and not be too hard on myself.

One of the things I talked with councillors about was having something to focus on, to keep my head up - and I had always loved the idea of doing a maternity boudoir session. So I had booked myself one with my favourite boudoir photographer in Vancouver, Jennifer Williams.

For me, and I know for so many women - boudoir & beauty portraits are healing. They have the power to lift you up and empower yourself to step forward into a better version of you. My session with Jen was one of the most personal, important and healing things I did for myself while I was pregnant. I didn't take a lot of photos of myself while pregnant - but I am so happy that I had these portraits done with Jen. When I look into my little girls face - all I can see is how much I love her - and it pains me to think of how hard carrying her was. 

My portraits are a reminder that there can be light in the dark places in life, and that something entirely perfect, and beautiful can be created at the end of even the most difficult times.

When in Las Vegas...do photo walks with gorgeous models! The last time I was in Vegas for a photo convention, there was a boudoir "Photo Walk" - what the heck is that? Its essentially a few models in one awesome place, you have the opportunity to direct and pose them up, and make some magic! 

One of things I loved best about shooting these sessions was the different setting of day to night! Its not often I get to work "After Dark" with my clients - and I loved the change in scenery! These images were about having fun with light, dark, a pool table and some of the standard boudoir furniture!

Top 3 Reasons You NEED a Boudoir & Beauty Session

I'm certain there are a whole lot more reasons you need a boudoir or beauty session in your life, but lets start with baby steps...

1. You've Earned It.

Its really that simple. You work hard in life, in play - so reward yourself! I meet a lot of incredible women whose greatest struggle is learning to celebrate themselves. A boudoir session, or a gorgeous portrait session showing off your favourite features, or outfit, lingerie, smile - its a REWARD for all the hard work you put into your job, your family, your marriage, your craft or even dinner! So go ahead and TREAT YOURSELF with something that will make you feel incredible and inspire other women to do the same! Seriously...look at these gorgeous women below!

2. New Experiences Build Confidence.

I don't know about you, but every time I step out of my comfort zone to try something new, I feel incredible. I feel sexy, empowered and ready to take on the world, and the daily tasks that come my way! I finally had a water shoot, photographed by my very talented friend, Alec Watson and I'm still walking on air from that day! I remember seeing my images on the computer that same day...I cried and cried and cried some more, because I finally KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that I. Am. SEXY. I am beautiful. And I am capable of being all those things. Here are a few words to describe how I felt, and still feel to this day:

Accomplished - I can now say with confidence, "I did it." Overwhelmed with Gratitude - I worked hard and finally took time to treat myself and get out of my comfort zone! And thanks to Alec, I have stunning images from that moment in time! Joyful I don't think I've ever felt so filled with complete and utter joy. Confident I know there I am a supermodel in my own right and nothing feels quite as amazing! Whether I'm in my PJ's, jeans or a sexy pencil skirt - I am on FIRE. 

There is such power in having that knowledge - and there is a confidence that will never go away!

3. Celebrate Milestones.

Its not often enough we as women celebrate anymore. Little things, big things - there needs to be more celebrating of milestones! Today you finally got that promotion at work, you got that drawer cleaned out in the kitchen or you were honest with someone when they hurt you, no matter the success, its time you celebrate the victory! If you've got a special birthday coming up, why not book a shoot? Honestly, you deserve to celebrate and be celebrated - so DO IT!

"I don't have my photo taken very often...if ever...I don't like it"

Up until June of 2016, it was often mentioned to me that was a little weird, given I'm a professional photographer for a living, that I never had my photo take in a fancy way. Sure. I could see that. The truth was, I was not overly comfortable in front of the camera, hadn't learned to love & embrace all of me, and hadn't yet had a ridiculously incredible experience in front of the lens. But - I never really put myself out there either! 

I'm a part of a group called "Healthy Role Models", or "HRM's" as we refer to ourselves. It is made up of hundreds of women, locally and globally! We exercise together, but apart, pump each others' tires, inspire, encourage and celebrate successes! It is a community of women learning to support each other, all the while building a healthy lifestyle! The group is amazing! As women, we are incredibly critical of ourselves. We have forgotten to celebrate even the tiniest of successes. I didn't stop for the IcedCapp I wanted at Timmy's today...#WIN. Even though I didn't break a huge sweat, I took a walk today. #BOOM. It's all about celebrating the small wins in life - no matter how trivial they may seem! Through those mini celebrations - we learn to love ourselves, grow and be far less critical!

At the end of the HRM challenge, there is a celebratory photoshoot. One, that in 3 challenges, I had never opted to do. Always telling myself I couldn't do it, or didn't progress enough...BLAH BLAH BLAH. HELLO POT!!! YES KETTLE? I know. We've all said that to ourselves. My clients have said that to me. And I always tell them..."There is no time like the present. If you don't do it now...will you ever? Celebrate YOU - in this exact moment!". I finally took my own advice and celebrated MYSELF. Exactly how I was. I worked hard, fallen along the way, but I still made progress! It seemed like the perfect opportunity - and I nearly talked myself right out of it with an entire book of excuses. If you know me, I'm always happy to plunge right into adrenaline pumping experiences (like bungey jumping!) but a photo shoot - no thanks. It exposes a lot. You worry about what will show up on camera - perhaps the doughnut you ate last week? The little crease of skin on the backside of your bra...you think about how you'll see your images and think I should have worked harder at the gym, you think about what things you won't like when you see the images, or how you hate the way your hair is going to look already - and you haven't even SEEN THE PHOTOS! Its pretty stressful! 

So...how then did I overcome my fear of photoshoots for myself, and the bigger question you ask yourself: "How can I overcome my fear of photoshoots!?" 

After going through the entire process myself, the answer is finally here:

DIVE RIGHT IN. HEAD FIRST. IGNORE THE LITTLE VOICE IN THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD SAYING YOU CAN'T DO IT. YOU'RE NOT READY. 

YOU ARE READY. Its that simple. 

​I was pretty nervous the day of my shoot. Then I had my shoot. Looking at my photos after the shoot, I cried, no - I definitely sobbed. I surprised even myself. Then I cried some more...and some more after that. And I thanked Alec profusely for capturing the sassy woman inside! I saw a woman who had let go of her emotional and mental hang-ups, and instead put on a pair of heels, a classy - yet SEXY skirt, and a splash of loud colour! I threw caution to the wind. I saw ME. And I loved her! She was sexy as hell, gorgeous and confident! Now I could look at photos of myself all day and find nothing but things I love about myself. I have become the best version of a vane woman I know! 

So what am I getting at here? That life is for celebrating. For being grateful for the small wins. For finding something that you love about yourself. And then celebrating the hell out of it! I am so grateful to the amazing Alec Watson for this incredible gift! His images make me feel like a goddess - and I am eternally grateful that he could help show me the beautiful woman inside!

Melanie brought some pretty amazing flair to her session - the inspiration for her first look came from one of her favourite comic book characters, Harley Quinn! We had a lot of fun with the look, and I played a little with some colourful light to bring out the Harley vibe for her! Not every session I photograph is the same, and what I love most about that is it gives a girl the freedom to chose something unique for the shoot! Melanie's first outfit was incredibly diverse, with the amazing sequin bottoms and a sweater on top! I loved the look! She had booked a session with two looks, and I absolutely LOVED the second choice too!! The session was a sexy surprise for her fiance - and she definitely made it happen!

5 Things You Need to Know Before Your Session

Like most things, there a tips and tricks that will really help you to make the most of what you're investing in! For Boudoir, it is no different! My sessions are about you embracing your butterflies, throwing caution to the wind and enjoying one of the most amazing, confidence boosting, love infusing experiences you can ever gift yourself with! So...here are a few of my favourite tips to give women before heading into their session...

1. Throw Away Your Expectations. 

Lots of women will tell you what to expect, what to do, what to not do, what to wear, make-up to put on, how your hair should be done...it's exhausting! So instead...let those expectations GO! Embrace the moment, the butterflies! Your nerves! Your experience will be completely different from someone elses...and thats a good things! The only expectation you need have coming into your session is that you will leave an empowered woman, confident in herself! 

2. Wardrobe is KEY!

Lots of women ask me..."What should I wear?" My answer is always the same: "Something that you are sexy comfortable in - not hiding in!" Many of my clients worry about how they will look if they haven't yet reached a goal weight, or gotten rid of those last 5 pounds! With the right lingerie, you don't need to! I can work with you during the session to pose you in ways that will hurt later, but blow your mind! 3. Get Nervous...

This one might sound a little contradictory. But who wouldn't feel nervous before heading into a boudoir session? You'll be dressing down into your under garments, and then we'll be taking some incredibly sexy images of you! BUT the key here is to embrace the nerves and the butterflies! They are part of what make the session amazing. They allow you to explore and trust my coaching your through the process, they keep you excited because you know its only going to get better!

4. Have Fun!

If you have a particularly interesting them you'd like to bring to your session - let me know! If you want laugher to pervade your images, then lets get you laughing! The session is all about bringing your unique personality to the table, and making sure it comes through in your images! You want a finished product that represents you - the best way to do it is make sure you are having FUN! One of my favourite sessions was with an amazing woman who LOVED Harley Quinn...she wanted to incorporate sequins, colours & a cute little sweater! Not what you would typically image for a session? And YET...so perfect for her vision!

5. YOU are READY

Thinking that it may be best to wait a little bit before you book, hoping to re-book your session at a later date...NO WAY! Boudoir is not about "being ready"...its about CELEBRATING YOU...exactly where you are! Its about being vulnerable in front of the camera so that we as photographers can show you just how incredible you look! Its about stepping outside of yourself and your comfort zone to show that little voice inside that you are READY and more importantly, you are worth celebrating! 

Whether you have read the books or not, we are all familiar with the famous tie, red lips & mask! While it doesn't seem like a traditional palate to book your session with, trust me it is SEXY! Incorporating small elements really allows us to add some mystery and more creativity into your already sexy session! 

I love so many of the ideas below, especially the red lips and the mask! To really get this look, is fairly simple - here are the key pieces:

The Mask - You can find a delicate mask at most party stores, and they're making them with more detail every time I hit the shops!

Tie - This little accessory can add layers to your detail shots, as well as provide some very alluring mystery to a darker shot! Feel free to borrow your significant others' tie to really spice it up and surprise him!

Lingerie - The piece I've selected below can be found at Victorias Secret. What I love about it, is the intricate lace details, the way it shapes curves and some of the paneling is sheer to show off your sexy skin! PLUS...it comes with matching panties! 

The Garter Belt - Garters don't make too many appearances during my sessions, but for this look - its a MUST! The addition of stockings to complete this outfit really make it stand out and add an extra layer of gorgeous!

Earrings - Whether you wear earrings or not, you'll want to add just a touch of elegant sparkle to your look!

Stilletoes - We'll need 3 inches or taller for these! The touch of gold on these shoes adds a look of sophistication! You can find them at Aldo!

 White Dress Shirt - Hopefully your husband has something clean you can borrow without him noticing ;D He'll thank you for it later!

Red Lips & a Smokey Eye - Your red lips will be an invitation, and your smokey eyes will be the RSVP!

I think we can all agree, she is a natural in front of the camera! "So, I am officially half naked on social media. After talking it over with my husband, I've decided to share this after the experience I had with Courtney. Originally this photo shoot was meant as a wedding gift for Greg, but after having a hard year of health issues and uncertainty, this experience also had a significant impact on me. Greg was very supportive and ecstatic to see that I ventured out and did something that made me feel beautiful and boosted my confidence. Working with Courtney was such a fun experience. I think most people are afraid to show their bodies in fear of being judged, but with Courtney she brings out a confidence that you never knew you had. At no point during the shoot did I worry about my body or how I looked. Courtney has such a fun personality all I remember was laughing and appreciating the patience she had when showing me how to do a pose. Greg and I are both in love with the photos Courtney produced and we are her biggest fans!

One of my favourite things about summer outdoor boudoir! Don't get me wrong, I love working indoors...but the magic on a summer evening is incredible! Tricia is a gorgeous woman with a wild spirit, and we had so much fun on the farm! I loved her combination of lingerie with the jean vest! Perfect for the scene! Our summers have been nothing short of amazing the last couple of years, so if you're looking for an outside the box session...this is for you!

Whats your New Years resolution for 2015? 

...

This year, I'm not making one. At least not the typical kind. 

How often do we miss the mark and end up disappointed or frustrated that we couldn't or didn't make the time, we might beat ourselves up, or deny ourselves of something fun to eat! I know I do. NO MORE! This year the only "resolution" I'm making is to love my life, myself, my husband, cats & live blissfully in the joy that those blessings provide. In abundance.

I meet so many gorgeous women who want to change their weight, wish they had smaller hips, or had more courage to do a boudoir session. My wish for you this year is that you celebrate the skin you're in! Once you love the body you're in, the rest will follow!

I'm inviting you to join me. This year, love who you are, the body you're in & the blessings you've been given! Think of one amazing thing you're blessed with each of the next 365 days. It doesn't have to be extraordinary, maybe its just that you have cream in the fridge for your coffee! Or that your cat gave you extra snuggles while you were watching your favourite TV show! Take your pick...the good stuff is everywhere!

Jackie Boudoir Video Experience

Not unlike myself, Beckie is very passionate about loving the body you're in and celebrating every woman. When she asked me to shoot the campaign for her, I was all over it!

The focus of Beckie's project is that "Every Body is Beautiful". Her goal with the project is to "feature the confidence & sexiness that can (and [does]) exist in every woman - regardless of their size!". As a a woman & a boudoir photographer, that is one of the most important lessons to learn. Here's how Beckie summed it up, and I couldn't agree more!

1. Size is JUST a number. 

2. Take time to Pamper Yourself. If you feel good, your inner beauty will shine through!

3. Learn to see yourself through you significant others' eyes! They fell in love with YOU!

I first met Alexi on the day of her session, and she was nervous! Not sure if she should go through with the session or not, I let her know that she must! I believe its a right of passage for every woman, to experience the thrill of not just a boudoir session, but the thrill of overcoming an obstacle! As women, we all know just how challenging it can be to put on a swim suit, much less have a photo shoot in lingerie. But once you've done it, you are changed. You're bolder with every step, and you've proven to yourself: You. Can. Do. It. And you can do it incredibly! And thats what Alexi did. She conquered her insecurities and rocked it...

As you all know, I shoot two things: Boudoir & Wedding Photography. I love them both. If I could take a CL workshop from the coolest wedding photographer in the world (and theres a lot I could name!) I would! So when the opportunity came up to see an insanely talented and equally as beautiful woman (inside & out) I jumped! I wanted to take boudoir to the next level. I was wanted to learn more about myself, how to challenge who I thought I was and all I knew and redefine what I do for a living. So my husband, Steve, helped me make a video to submit and it was selected for Jennifer Rozenbaum's boudoir workshop! BIG DEAL for me!!! I was absolutely over the moon. Jen's story is inspirational, and her work is incredible! She is the Women's Photographer in New York and you can see her work here! So 4 weeks  later, we packed our bags, loaded up the car, dropped the cats (Michael & Annabelle) off at my parents and hit the road.

The night we arrived, I met the 5 other fabulous women who were selected & Jen! We could have chatted all night at Tutta Bella's restaurant about a million different things! I knew we'd all have a lot of fun together...which we did! Each day we walked single file into the studio where we would spend the afternoon absorbing information like sponges!

We bonded over three intense and incredible days. Jen poured her heart out and divulged some of her best kept secrets, and we kept on eating up all the information we could! The workshop, the new friendships, the FOOD in the studio...everything was amazing!! If you're reading this thinking: "Good grief...this sounds like a cheesy made for T.V. movie..." then you are thinking just what I am. I totally was, and I loved every second! I made some wickedly talented new lady friends and had a fabulous time doing it!

I'm taking all I learned from Jen's course and putting it to good use. To all the ladies out there reading this...

"You are phenomenal. You are cherished. You are important. There is no one else in the world as unique as You. So lets celebrate it!"

Shooting LIVE

Heres where it got pretty exciting (ok well the entire experience was insanely exciting!!) they let me shoot for a little bit! Holy Moses was I ever nervous! If theres one thing that truly makes me cringe - its asparagus...but its also being watched LIVE on streaming internet tv by a lot of people...needless to say I was thrilled and yet could hardly breathe at the same time! The lovely model is Bec Hine and she rocked the body suit!

This was the experience of a life time and I would love to go back! I learned so much from Jen and loved the CreativeLIVE team! The food was good, the company was great, and the experience was priceless and yet more valuable than I could ever imagine! Thanks so much for stopping by and having a read!

Valentines day was getting close, and Tara needed a fabulous gift. She and her man had known each other for several years as friends, but only recently had they taken the friendship to the next level! I remember when that happened with Steve, so I knew just how excited and nervous she was for their first Valentines together! She was nervous about a lot of things...What she would bring, how the make-up would look and whether or not she'd be comfortable in lingerie in front of me? Totally understandable! Often women come to me looking to get a special gift for their significant others, but I think what they always leave a session with is completely unexpected: A confidence in themselves and a love for who they!  Tara's session was stunning, she was HOT and rocked the camera!

Well this is just a girly post! I always love collecting great new jewels. Whether they be rings,necklaces, shoes or fun new album covers...I like em'! I like to call them shiny pretties. I had just shot a fabulous session for Jessi, (you can see her post here) and she had the most glorious ring! It was a huge green butterfly and it looked spectacular with her outfit and everything else! I was inspired! I had never given much thought to having a few pieces of jewelry available at a session...I mostly just drooled over the sparkly's that ladies brought it in!  Days later  I was in the mall and I nearly lost my marbles. There are a few things in life that I really love: My handsome husband Steve, my cats, Michael & Annabelle...and an incredible SALE!!! Theres many other things I love of course, but a sale of the right items is right up my alley! I was looking for a string of long pearls and found them, strolled up to the till and found out the price:

I could hardly control my impulse to purchase the entire rack of jewelry. You don't see those kinds of sales every day! I went to work sifting through all the pretties picking everything from rings, necklaces & bracelets! I came up with some fabulous new accessories for all you fabulous ladies to glam yourselves up with in your sessions! Have a look for yourselves! I'm in love, I know you'll be!        

All these fantastic sparkly pieces for you to wear during your session! Wowzer! Now, true to female fashion I bought them because I loved them...so don't be surprised if you see me showing them off!

A little while back I received a phone call from a lovely man collecting donations for an amazing cause, "Cops for Cancer". I decided to donate a boudoir package to help raise funds for the cause, after all, what man wouldn't want to purchase his fabulous lady a fun boudoir session for a good cause?! I know my husband would ;D Not to long after I received and email for a lovely lady named Jessi telling me that her boyfriend had bid on the package at the "Cops for Cancer" event as a gift for her. She was coming up from Victoria for her session and asked for a few places I might recommend for she and Kyle to have a romantic getaway at. I've shot at the Beach Club in Parksville several times, I love the way the light pours into the rooms, the simplicity of the set and most of all the phenomenal view from every room! Its a great experience all round so I knew it'd be perfect for Jessi's session! We met for the first time on the day of her shoot, she had fabulous red hair (it looked like it was on fire!), gorgeous eyes and lit up the room! I could tell it was going to be a fantastic shoot!

"What on earth happens in a boudoir session?"

Its a question I get asked fairly often, so I came up with an idea to make a fabulous video to tell the story! I managed to convince my very talented husband to film it too! We came up with a few different ideas and settled on shooting it at Fairholme Manor. Its a gorgeous vintage home in the heart of Victoria, surrounded by tall Oak trees, quaint homes and cute streets! I had worked with the model before, Jackie Czaja and I knew she'd be perfect for the video! As for hair and make-up, I could think of no one better than Judi Miel for the job! Thanks to Lux an Accessory Boutique we had some fabulously flirty pieces of jewellery for Jackie to wear! We gathered all of our things, loaded up into the car and headed down to Victoria for the shoot! It was a whirl wind day and whole lot of fun! Steve did an amazing job creating the video, Jackie was a fabulous model and Judi rocked the hair and make-up! When a friend of mine, Angie, recently got engaged, I got a message from my fabulous friend Holly, who just happens to be Angie's Maid of Honour, asking about a marathon for her stagette! I was pumped to be asked to document and create such an awesome event for such a wonderful lady! Angie didn't know until a few days before what was happening, but Holly had convinced Angie's bridal party to celebrate the stagette with boudoir!

We met up on a sunny Sunday morning to document the good times...

The mimosas were flowing, fresh croissants were wafting, make-up and hair were glamming the ladies up and I was getting ready with my gear! I'd hosted Boudoir Marathons before, but the notion of Boudoir Stagette was new...and I LOVED it!! What a fabulous way to bond with your bridal party!! The girls were beyond excited for themselves and for each other, and they kept group morale at an all time high throughout the sessions! They helped to build up and instill confidence in one another, and with each session the ladies got louder and prouder!

I've known Charlie (name has been changed ;D for privacy) for many years! She's a beautiful woman inside and out and I was thrilled when she asked me to do boudoir for her! We had a lot of creative ideas together and needed just the right setting to make dreams come true. We searched and found a lovely boutique hotel in Qualicum called "Crown Mansion". Full of elegance, charm, luxury & delicious welcome treats...it was perfect.

The day her shoot was fabulous! Amazing light was streaming into the room, music was pumpin', Charlie was feeling the supermodel vibes and her hair and make-up was flawless! She brought a gorgeous array of classy & sassy lingerie to rock, as well as all the glitz and glitter she could find to finish her look! She was phenomenal, and ready to go! The suite that we were photographing Charlie's session in was fabulous! There was a sultry wing back chair paired with a great lamp, and it added to the Teddy she rocked....

One of my absolute favourite parts of Charlie's session was the claw foot tub adorning the bay window! It was one of the best props I've ever had the joy of using! We filled the tub up with bubbles and Charlie hopped in...

I scouted locations for a few days and finally came across a fabulous field to set the perfect tone! The grass, green and luscious, horses in the field behind, just the right amount of shade, blue skies and clouds.
